#GoldenDawnHotel 4ο Update – Επικοινωνία με Booking.com

Στην κλήση αυτή η Elizabeth μου είπε πως έχει εικόνα για το τι γίνεται στην Ελλάδα, για τα «political tensions» των τελευταίων ετών, όπως χαρακτηριστικά μου είπε, και μου εξιστόρησε ένα παρόμοιο γεγονός που τους έτυχε στο Las Vegas πριν κάτι μήνες.
Ειδικά για το θέμα μας, μου ζήτησε να διευκρινίσω αν πρόκειται για κακή χρήση της πλατφόρμας τους και κατά πόσον έχει χρησιμοποιηθεί αυτή για να επικοινωνηθεί η εκδήλωση της Χρυσής Αυγής και της είπα πως δεν είναι τέτοιο το ζήτημα. Της εξήγησα πως πρόκειται για διάθεση του χώρου από τον επιχειρηματία στην υπόδικη ναζιστική οργάνωση Χρυσή Αυγή, πράγμα που διαφοροποιεί τελείως την παραπάνω, κατά τ’ άλλα πλήρως φυσιολογική, ενέργεια του επιχειρηματία.
Στη συνέχεια της εξήγησα πως την τελευταία φορά που ο ίδιος επιχειρηματίας παραχώρησε χώρο στην εν λόγω οργάνωση έγινε πογκρόμ κατά μεταναστών στο νησί και εκεί μου ζήτησε όλες τις πληροφορίες γραπτά σε ένα mail ώστε να το πάει «πιο πάνω».
Σας παραθέτω ολόκληρο το mail που της έστειλα για να έχετε εικόνα. Ότι νεότερο έχω εννοείται σας ενημερώνω.
Εδώ κάπου πρέπει να ευχαριστήσω όλους τους εθελοντές που μετέφρασαν και διόρθωσαν σε τόσες γλώσσες τις επιστολές που στέλνουμε καθώς και όλους εσάς που τις τελευταίες 3-4 μέρες διαδίδετε με κάθε τρόπο το μήνυμά μας.
Εννοείται επίσης πως δεν σταματάμε να στέλνουμε και να ενημερώνουμε και άλλους να στείλουν επιστολή με mail, να κάνουν mention, να τηλεφωνήσουν, να στείλουν φαξ (ναι ξέρω, μη βρίζετε) να κάνουμε ότι μπορούμε ώστε να φτάσει το μήνυμά μας στους «στόχους» μας.

The Issue
The issue is that a certain bussiness man in Chios, owner of multiple properties on the island, is hosting and facilitating an event organized by Golden Dawn political party/organization. The event is going to take place in one of his properties called «Golden Sand Hotel» (No1 in the following list) on January the 31st. (This is one of the event’s announcements on their site http://www.xryshaygh.com/enimerosi/view/politikh-ekdhlwsh-sthn-chio-to-problhma-ths-lathrometanasteushs-kai-h-lush you can see the name of the hotel clearly mentioned in the bottom of the image in the post.)
Golden Dawn is notorious for the core nazi values of the party and its executives. They are currently under criminal trial for a variety of criminal offenses along with being a criminal orginization. These offences include stabbings, beatings, attacks on immigrants due to skin color or nationality, arson, murders etc, with their pinnacle being the murder of musician Pavlos Fyssas in 2013. More recently (2017) Greek society witnessed various attacks by Golden Dawn members against passers-by casually strolling outside their party offices, and against lawyers involved in their trial as a criminal organization. Moreover, one of the key speakers in the event (G. Lagos) has been charged with participation and operation of a criminal organization, along with criminal possession of a weapon.
About the property
Hotel Golden Sand is one of the five different properties in Chios island Greece that the businessman, named Antonis Feggoudakis, owns in the island. You can see below the properties’ names and links to your platform as well as their website.

It has happened before
This is not the first time such incidents occur. In 2016, the same businessman allowed a similar event of the same organization to take place again in Chios in another one of his properties named «Grecian Castle Hotel» (No 2 in the list) . Upon completion of the event, members and supporters of the nazist organization perpetrated deadly attacks against migrants in the city of Chios and in the migrant reception centre of VIAL. City council of Chios feels the same
«Mayor Manolis Vournous and the City Council of Chios unanimously declared officials of extreme-right Golden Dawn as “persona non gratae”. The local authorities have herewith expressed their opposition to a planned event organized by the Golden Dawn on the island. The event is on the Migration-Refugee Crisis and is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, January 31st.»

Questions arise
So what we have here is a bussinessman that doesn’t care if he facilitates a nazi criminal organization to spread their bigoted and hatefull speech but more than that we have a really significant security issue because these people are well known for the use of violence against various minorities, migrants and so on. And we now need to ask ourselves:
– Do we let nazis have their festivities around our communities and especially around immigrants and people of different skin color, nationality or sex orientation?
– Can the managers of the property hosting the event, assure the rest of the guests that there will not be any danger from a nazi event happening on the premises they chose to spend their vacation?
– Is a bussiness like booking.com willing to risk their brand by hosting and promoting properties that are or may end up hosting and facilitating nazi events?
For all the above reasons, me and many other users, existing or potential customers of yours, decided that we needed to draw your attention on the issue and thought that you need to take some measures.
The measures we request booking.com to take, based on the facts we presented to you, are:
1) The forementioned properties, all owned by the same businessman, be removed from your platform.
2) The public opinion should be informed about your forthcoming actions, based on the Corporate Social Responsibility scheme of your corporation, which relates to safety and security for your customers, the rejection of Nazi ideals and the consolidation of human rights, so that such phenomena will not take place in the future.
